An Analysis of Students’ Grammatical Errors in Writing Narrative Texts

Senior high school students still make a large number of errors related to grammar when they have writing narrative text. This study aimed analyze the types grammatical errors, identifying sources and knowing difficulties commonly faced by tenth grade senior in their texts. Descriptive qualitative method was used this study. There were two kinds data being namely quantitative data. three different instruments applied such as, teacher, test, questionnaires. only 23 texts collected analyzed. Based on error analysis, there 308 classified into four types, ‘omission’, ‘misformation’, ‘addition’, ‘misordering errors’ students’ ‘Misformation are biggest 131, most dominant ‘misformation alternating form errors’. The occured because interlingual intralingual transfer. cognitive problem that made feel difficult lack knowledge English vocabularies.
